Assessment Process at HAMPTON
Assessment at HAMPTON is a structured process used to collect evidence and evaluate whether you have achieved competency in your chosen units of study. This ensures that you can perform to the standards expected in the workplace, as outlined in your training package or VET-accredited course.
Your HAMPTON teacher will formally assess your skills, knowledge, and understanding. As assessments are competency-based, you will be required to demonstrate the required competencies for each unit of study.
To maintain the integrity of our assessments, HAMPTON ensures that all evaluations are valid, reliable, flexible, and fair. Our trainers conduct assessments according to the specific conditions outlined for each unit of competency.
Types of Assessment
Various assessment methods are used to allow learners to demonstrate competency in multiple ways. These assessments include:
- Written Tasks – Case studies, question-and-answer tasks, written reports, assignments, reflective evaluations, self-assessments, project work, demonstrations, and class presentations.
- Observation – Your teacher will assess your performance in real and simulated workplace environments. This may include role-plays, group discussions, and practical demonstrations. If you are on vocational placement, a qualified industry professional will also observe your performance.
- Vocational Placement – This provides hands-on experience in a real workplace, allowing you to apply classroom knowledge in a structured environment. You will be mentored and supported by an industry professional while being observed on your ability to perform required tasks.
- Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) – If you already possess relevant skills and knowledge, you may be eligible for RPL. For more information, contact our helpdesk at info@hamptoncollege.com.au.
Assessments include a combination of activities, questioning, projects, and observations, ensuring a comprehensive evaluation of your competency. Some tasks may stand alone, while others integrate multiple assessment methods.
HAMPTON is committed to providing fair and flexible assessments, helping you successfully demonstrate your skills and achieve competency in your chosen field.
